Looking for a new Swim School? Why come to us?

We are waiving our booking in fee and offering the first lesson free for all of April 2018 – children’s swimming skills regress very quickly, do not let the time and money spent to date on swimming skills and keeping your child safer go to waste by taking a break now! Come try us, there is a LOT to love!

Safety and skill regression:
Apart from the safety issues, discontinuation of lessons typically results in a decline in a child’s water independence, technique and stamina within a period of several weeks or even less. Children under 5 are just beginning to develop muscle memory, and need constant reinforcement to retain skills previously learnt, so a break in lessons often results in a loss of skills. By taking a break in the cooler months, you may be wasting all the time and money spent on lessons previously. Learning to swim is a long term, ongoing process, and consistency is the key to the development and maintenance of swimming skills – they need to be practised all year round to reinforce existing skills to build to new levels and to continue to progress and develop. Unfortunately the risks posed by drowning do not go away in winter, so neither should the lessons. By swimming all year round children remain confident in the water, and remember, regular exercise helps to keep the body healthy and fight off winter illnesses.

Convenience and comfort:
Our centres are purpose built and have the best air and water quality available (we have Neptune Benson Ultra Fine Filters installed which allows us to filter down to 1 micron, and our water is sanitised using a combination of chlorine and UV disinfection), are air conditioned, with a separate temperature controlled viewing room at Nepean Aquatic Centre, plenty of hot showers, have plenty of parking including undercover parking. No matter the ages of your children, with a little planning, you can usually arrange your children’s lessons all on the same day, at the same time. We run lessons 7 days a week, at 2 locations, so we have spaces available to start immediately.

A skill for life:
Swimming can, quite literally, save your child’s life. In my mind, all the other reasons to swim, however compelling, are peripheral to this fact. Of the 291 people who drowned in Australia last year, 41 were children under the age of 14. 41 families lost a child. These deaths were mainly in swimming pools in the 0-4 age group, and rivers, creeks and streams in the 5-14 year old age group, and were largely attributed to lack of supervision for the younger children and lack of a basic level of swimming skills and water safety knowledge in the older age group. Learning to swim from 6 months is a must in Australia and the only responsible choice for parents.

A high quality weekly swimming lesson costs less than the price of a cup of coffee per day:
Swimming lessons are great value for money when considering the skill they teach our children. We offer small classes, an exclusive learn to swim curriculum, and highly qualified teachers, all trained and registered with Austswim. We also offer discounts for multiple children and/or multiple lessons and intensive programs to make lessons more affordable for families and for children needing to catch up. We use achievement stickers and certificates to reward and motivate children as they progress from skill to skill and move up through our Learn To Swim levels.

Swimming lessons improve leaning outcomes at school:
Research conducted by Griffith University over four years has concluded that children who swim demonstrate more advanced cognitive and physical abilities than other children. The children tested were anywhere from six to 15 months ahead of the normal population when it came to cognitive skills, problem solving in mathematics, counting, language and following instructions.

Fitness and fun:
In a world where technology is becoming more and more prevalent, and the government is now offering rebates to encourage physical activity in children, it’s increasingly important to continue to motivate our kids to be active and have fun the old fashioned way – have you ever seen a child not having fun splashing about in the pool on a hot day? Swimming is fun!
